Residence permit for investment in Georgia
In 2024, in order to obtain residence permit through investment, it is necessary to invest more than $300,000 in the development of the local economy. Possible areas for investment include business and real estate (excluding agricultural land).
Confirmation of the value of the investment is made through an audit conducted by a certified auditor or an appraisal by a certified appraiser accredited by the Unified National Accreditation Body.
When investing in a business, the investor must confirm the annual turnover from business activities: at least $50,000 for the first year, $100,000 for the second year, and $120,000 for the third and subsequent years. For this type of residence permit, Georgia’s real estate with a market value of over $300,000 is also a suitable asset, but it is important to maintain ownership.
When first applied, the duration of the residence permit is 5 years, then the permit is issued indefinitely.
Under the programme, a residence permit may also be granted to family members of the principal applicant: spouse, minor children, dependents, as well as incapacitated family members recognized as such under the laws of the relevant country.
In order to obtain citizenship of the country, the holder of a residence permit must have lived in the country for 10 continuous years. It is also necessary to pass an exam on knowledge of the Georgian language, history, and legislation.
