Property Details
With its glorious natural scenery, excellent climate, welcoming culture and excellent standards of living, France is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most desirable places across the world to live or visit. On offer here is a chance to make a smart financial investment in this magnificent part of the world.
Medieval, stone-built dwelling as part of an old Chateau complex dating back to the 16 century (originally servants’ quarters) in the Ancien Regime. The Chateau is still functioning currently and is is called Chateau Chenaie. Moderizised post-French Revolution. Situate off a Rouele in the Village.
Upon entrance, one meets an entrance into a hallway, together with a shower room to the right and a double bedroom converted from a cave at ground floor level. On the next floor, are further sleeping quarters, including one large triple room and a good-sized double room. There is also the main bathroom on this level with a shower, sink and boiler. Off the triple room, is a lovely (unique) inner courtyard, ideal for both shade and relaxation and/or dining.
On the next level are the living quarters, including one kitchen/dining room and a Grand Salle, off of which leads to a large terrace with unrivalled views of the valley, leading onto the Mediterranean Sea (500 sq. mtrs ABSL). The terrace is spectacular for a quiet drink or a meal al fresco. Below the terrace is the centre of the village with a tennis court.
There is a go-karting racing track a 10-minute walk from the village and Roquebruin is a 25 min drive away which has a gorgeous river for swimming and kayaking/canoeing in beautiful scenic locations.
ABOUT THE AREA
Caussiniojouls is a commune in the Hérault department in southern France. Languedoc-Roussillon (often called 'the Languedoc') is a historical coastal region in southern France, extending from Provence to the Pyrenees Mountains and the border with Spain. It’s now part of Occitanie. The area is a major wine producer, with Vin de Pays d’Oc and sparkling Crémant de Limoux among its best-known varieties. The regional capital, Montpellier, is home to a well-preserved medieval quarter.
Stretching from Provence to the Pyrenees, this sultry, sun-baked territory (now part of the greater Occitanie region) feels like a country in its own right. It’s been a strategic border since Roman times and is awash with historical reminders, from Roman aqueducts to hilltop Cathar castles. Today it’s best known for its vineyards, which produce a third of France’s wines, and the busy beaches sprawling along its Mediterranean shore.
Each of Languedoc-Roussillon’s three main areas has its own distinct landscape and character. Bas-Languedoc is home to the biggest beaches and the captivating cities of Montpellier and Nîmes. Inland lies the high, wild country of the Grands Causses and Cévennes, with a fascinating mix of hills, caves, gorges, forests and surreal moonscape plateaux. Roussillon, in the southwest, shares close ties with Catalonia just across the Spanish border, including traditional sardanes folk dances and a passion for rugby and vibrant summer festivals.
