Grenada citizenship by investment programme
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme, launched in August 2013, allows foreigners to obtain a passport without needing to pass examinations in the local language or culture and without prior residency on the islands. All conditions and requirements for candidates are detailed in Law No. 15/2013.
To qualify for citizenship by investment in Grenada, adult foreigners must either contribute USD 230,000 or more to the Grenadian government fund or invest in a property within a government-approved project valued at USD 270,000 or more. The first option is designed to foster the country’s development, with proceeds financing various sectors of the economy, including the tourism and agricultural sectors.
Buying a home in the island nation stimulates the local property market and contributes to infrastructure development, thereby enhancing its appeal in the international arena. Participants in the Grenada Islands Citizenship Programme can resell the property five years after the initial transaction as part of their investment agreement.
A Grenada passport must be renewed every five years. Foreigners, worrying about how to get citizenship in Grenada for themselves and their families have the opportunity to do so. The following relatives of the candidate may apply:
- An opposite-sex spouse with no criminal record;
- Financially dependent children under the age of 30;
- Minor siblings who are unmarried, have no children of their own and are financially supported by the primary applicant;
- Financially dependent grandparents living with the primary applicant.
